Trauma Counselling

Finding Safety, Healing, and a Way Forward

Traumatic experiences can have a lasting impact on how a person feels, thinks, relates to others, and experiences the world. Even when an event happened in the past, its effects can continue to influence everyday life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Dr. Sanaei provides trauma counselling in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. His approach focuses on helping individuals understand the effects of trauma, develop effective coping strategies, and gradually rebuild a sense of safety, control, and connection.

Trauma counselling may be helpful for individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety, fear, or feeling constantly on alert
  • Intrusive memories or unwanted thoughts
  • Avoidance of people, places, or situations associated with a traumatic experience
  • Difficulties with trust, relationships, or emotional connection
  • Feelings of guilt, shame, helplessness, or low self-worth
  • Sleep difficulties or difficulty relaxing
  • Emotional numbness or feeling disconnected
  • Distress following a traumatic or overwhelming experience
  • Challenges adjusting after a significant or distressing event

A Compassionate and Individualized Approach

Dr. Sanaei recognizes that each person responds to trauma differently. Counselling is therefore tailored to the individual’s circumstances, needs, and readiness, with an emphasis on establishing safety and trust throughout the process.

The counselling process may include developing strategies to manage difficult emotions, understanding trauma-related responses, strengthening self-compassion, improving relationships, and processing difficult experiences when appropriate.

The goal is to help individuals move toward greater emotional well-being, confidence, and connection while developing the skills and resources needed to move forward.

Healing does not mean forgetting what happened. It means developing the safety, understanding, and resources needed to move forward.
