The Autism Funding Unit (AFU) is a program provided by the Government of British Columbia that offers financial support to families of children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The funding helps families access a range of approved services, including counselling, behavioral supports, and other therapeutic interventions that support a child’s development and well-being. Families manage their funding through the MyFamilyServices portal and can use it with approved service providers, such as Registered Clinical Counsellors, once a Request to Pay (RTP)form has been submitted and approved.

You are welcome to book a consultation or an intake session with Dr. Sanaei to discuss your child’s needs and learn more about his approach. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and see whether counselling feels like a good fit for your child and family.
If you would like to use Autism Funding Unit (AFU) funding for counselling sessions, a Request to Pay (RTP) form must be completed and approved before funding can be used. The form is attached below.
Once you decide to proceed, you need to complete the RTP form and submit it through the MyFamilyServices portal for approval.
Please have the following information ready when completing the form:
AFU approval typically takes about 3 weeks. It is recommended to wait for approval before starting counselling sessions so that funding can be applied.
If you choose to begin sessions before approval is received, these sessions will be billed as private-pay sessions to the card on file.
Please note that sessions paid privately before AFU approval cannot be reimbursed retroactively.
Once your RTP request is approved, please notify Dr. Sanaei so the AFU billing number can be confirmed, and counselling sessions can be billed directly through AFU.
