Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP)

Trauma Counselling Covered Through the CVAP

If you have experienced a crime in British Columbia, you may be eligible for counselling coverage through the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). Dr. Sanaei is a registered CVAP provider and offers direct billing, allowing eligible clients to receive online and in-person counselling services without the stress of upfront payments or reimbursement processes.

Reaching out for support after experiencing trauma can feel overwhelming. Dr. Sanaei provides compassionate, trauma-informed care to support individuals throughout their healing journey.

What is CVAP?

The Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) is a Government of British Columbia program that provides financial support to victims, immediate family members, and witnesses of violent crime.

The goal of the program is to support healing and recovery following the impact of crime.

Who is Eligible for CVAP?

You may be eligible for CVAP-funded counselling if you are:

  • A victim of a violent crime in British Columbia
  • An immediate family member of a victim
  • A witness to a violent crime

Applications are generally required within one year of the incident, although exceptions may apply depending on the circumstances.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, you are encouraged to reach out or review eligibility information through the Government of British Columbia’s CVAP program.

How CVAP Counselling Can Help

Experiencing trauma can affect many aspects of life, including emotional wellbeing, relationships, sleep, concentration, work, and feelings of safety.

Dr. Sanaei provides trauma-informed counselling to support individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety and panic
  • PTSD and trauma symptoms
  • Depression and emotional distress
  • Fear, shame, or guilt
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Grief and loss
  • Stress related to legal or safety concerns

Therapy is tailored to each individual’s unique experiences, needs, and goals.

Direct Billing to CVAP

Direct billing to CVAP is available to help reduce financial stress and improve access to care. This means eligible sessions can often be billed directly to the program rather than requiring clients to pay out of pocket.

A free consultation call is also available to help determine whether counselling would be a good fit for your needs.

How to Apply for CVAP Funding

1. Gather Information

Collect any supporting documents that may be helpful, such as:

3. Submit Your Application
